Photograph archive - Old and modern images of Seaham Streets, Buildings and Features Joiner's Cafe built on the foreshore at the North Road Practice Battery
Seaham Harbour Urban District Council gave permission in September 1923 to erect a building for catering purposes on the sea banks adjacent to the old Practice Battery of the 2nd Durham (Seaham) Artillery Volunteers. The shop frontage was 100ft long and had a licence to sell tobaco and provided catering including a large dining room. THe application by Messrs Joiner and Bush was granted initially for a period of seven years.
