Fred Cooper BSc ACMA CGMA

North-East England Historian, Author and Publisher

Fred Cooper is a prolific researcher and writer on the local area of County Durham. In particular he has written and published more than ten books on the maritime town of Seaham and the surrounding coalfield district. He has written in many genres including local history, maritime adventure, military history and biographical and true stories. He is best known for his account of the deeply moving true story "One Year of Hell" chronicling the 1880 Seaham Colliery Disaster.
