Air Raid over Seaham 16th May 1943 (Viceroy, Sophia and Adolphus Streets hit)

The 16th May 1943 was probably the most significant day in the Battle of Britain in the North-East of England. Bombs were dropped on Viceroy Street, Sophia Street and Adolphus Street with many deaths, casualties and much damage to property including the Presbyterian Church which was totally demolished.
