Fred Turnbull (Stores Office) at Vane Tempest Colliery

Marion's dad was good at school and wanted to join the army bands.

However the family that brought him up took him to Seaham Colliery.

 

 

 

 

After a serious chest complaint he worked on the wagons at

Vane Tempest Colliery.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Office staff: Fred Turnbull, Harry Chapman and George Beer. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

After a number of years a combination of working on the wagons

and patrolling the cliffs in the Home Guard affected his health and 

he moved to the stores office until he retired.
