Seaham Hall

Seaham Hall - the coastal home of the Londonderry family. Established as a VAD (Voluntary Aid Detachment) hospital in June 1915. After WW1 Seaham Hall was closed in 1922 owing to heavy taxation and cost of maintenance. It was leased to Durham County Council at a peppercorn rent in 1927 and opened as a Tuberculosis Sanatorium in 1928.
