Seaham Colliery (also know as The Knack pit)

Sunk in 1849 the pit began production in 1852. Seaham Colliery had a training gallery and training centre that trained many thousands of mining apprentices employed at other Durham collieries. After the pit was closed Seaham High School was later built on the site.
