Vane Hall

Vane Hall was built as the first drill hall of the 2nd Durham (Seaham) Artillery Volunteers and opened on 27th February 1862. It served the Brigade well for the next 25 years until a much larger drill was built in Londonderry Road in 1888. It was later used as a livery stable, undertaking business, joiners shop and blacksmith's shop until a fire in the hall in 1926. Vane Hall was bought by the Seaham National Spiritualist Church and opened after a complete renovation on 25th February 1939.
