The wooden bridge was built over the railway lines between Malvern Crescent and Station Road. This was a daily crossover for pupils living in Deneside to go to the Seaham Modern School (The SIS/SMS). Often some of the planks were missing and you had to hop over the gap. It was great fun to children to stand on the bridge whilst a steam train pulling waggons of coal passed underneath enveloping them in smoke. The old Labour Club stood approximately behind where the photographer stood to take this picture.
